THE ROADRUNNER RAG by Wendell Whitacre, editor 6/6/05

As I am sure you have noticed, our Club is going great guns this year. We certainly are in the running for being the number one Club in all of Civitan International and to receive the coveted founder's Club Award. Under the enthusiastic leadership of President Zippy and the outstanding efforts of Carl and Theresa in Club Building and the support of the entire membership, we are on a winning cycle. Let us all keep our eye on the prize, be on the constant look-out for new members and participate in all the Club activities that we are able. Every indication points toward this being a Roadrunner year.

The annual Cresta Loma Golf Tournament held on May 21, 2005, was as usual a great success. Carl always does a tremendous job with this project. This year the total profit was approximately $4,100.00. Kudos to Carl and all those members and sponsors who contributed to make this event a stellar success.

An upcoming meeting of the Heart of the West Civitan District will be held in Las Vegas on August 19th to 21st. 2005. Several of our members will be attending, all are welcome! What a great event to attend and enjoy some great Civitan fellowship and a little R&R in Vegas.

Zippy has proposed several social events for the up coming months, including a Casino Evening, a July 4th outing at Inns Suites, a movie night at Crossroads Festival and a Country Western Dance Night at the Hidden Valley Inn. (Maverick is closed for the summer) Please indicate your desires by signing the appropriate sheets at our regular meetings otherwise these events won't happen!

An election of officers for the up coming year will be formalized at our next meeting on June 15th, 2005. We now have a compete slate, but nominations from the floor are always welcome. Ana Nygren will be the in-coming President; Kathy Spude, President-Elect; Brandon Blair, Treasurer and Lee Powell, Secretary. Candidates for Board Membership will be announced at the up coming meeting.

The next meeting of the Board of Directors (tomorrow) will be held at the French Quarter Restaurant on June 8th, 2005 at 11:30am. Every member is welcome....

Carl also is to be congratulated for his outstanding efforts in the membership recruitment this year.If each of us could recruit at least one new member between now and October 1st, 2005, our chances for receiving the Founder's Award would be exceedingly high. Go Roadrunners!
