Kathy did an outstanding job chairing The Heart of the West Leadership Conference in Las Vegas April 4-6. Excellent logistics were coordinated, and largely individually accomplished, by Kayla Brown-Cestero and kudos to her. Kayla's email address, realgrittywoman@yahoo.com, speaks loads about her drive and abilities! The program was top-notch, there was a lot of good fellowship and sharing of ideas and all in all it was a memorable Civitan weekend. When I left early on the 6th, Carl was ahead at the gaming tables and those of he group adventuresome enough to take the roller coaster ride at New York New York appeared to have survived without undue stress or strain!
Mark Eisinger, who is running for President Elect of Civitan International and who is a member of The Las Vegas Civitan Club, made a presentation at the Conference. Kathy emphasized that our District should do its best in regard to membership recruitment and performance in general, since we are the home district of the candidate. Our District will be well represented on the criuise, judging from a show of hands of the Conference participants.
Sandra Mackel has agreed to be our incoming Club President and Cindy Johnson has stepped up to be President Elect.
Congratulations and kudos to them both. They are guiding the way for other new members to become actively involved in our Club.
The Roadway Cleanup Project on April 12th was a snap. There was appreciably less trash than usual, the weather was great and the project was more of a social hike, in lovely surroundings, than work, We certainly have one of the most picturesque roads in the area, if not in the country, for our assignment.
The next Board Meeting will be at Theresa and Wendell's home on April 24th. As usual, everyone is invited.
